Cyber Coverage

Integrated, turn-key and state-of-the-art

Providing access to expertise to help you respond appropriately

Medical Mutual sounded the alarm on cyber threats in the healthcare industry years ago. Today, a robust market of cyber insurance providers exists for hospitals and their employed physicians to protect against losses due to data breaches.

For other healthcare providers that lack the scale of hospitals, cyber coverage options are significantly more limited. That’s why Medical Mutual includes $100,000 of base cyber security coverage – double the coverage provided by most other carriers – in its medical professional liability insurance policies for independent physicians, nursing homes and allied healthcare facilities. This state-of-the-art coverage provides access to the expertise to help you respond appropriately to HIPAA and HITECH Act laws that require such things as patient notification in the event of a breach of patient information. Under the program, Medical Mutual's third-party experts coordinate notification with related expenses covered, subject to your chosen aggregate limit.

Other Federal mandates the turn-key program covers are services like credit monitoring and forensic analysis. It also provides benefits to help cover financial liabilities, including legal defense and penalties associated with breach liability.
