Medical Mutual is seeking a professional underwriter to join our team. We are looking for a candidate with3–5 years of Property & Casualty underwriting experience. Medical Professional Liability underwriting experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who brings strong underwriting fundamentals, curiosity, and a desire to grow in this specialty.

The successful candidate will develop strong agency and customer relationships to enhance retention and new business and will be responsible for managing a book of healthcare professional liability business to achieve profitability objectives. This role involves underwriting both small and large risks across a variety of healthcare segments, including physicians, nursing homes, hospitals, and healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate insurance applications, renewals, and endorsements within assigned underwriting authority
• Accurately prepare and present renewal proposals and new business quotations
• Perform detailed risk analysis, including review of exposures, loss history, coverage, pricing, and structure
• Interpret and clearly explain policy terms and conditions to agents and insureds
• Offer sound underwriting solutions with a strong focus on long term profitability
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with brokers, agents, and internal partners

Minimum Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Property & Casualty underwriting experience required
• Medical Professional Liability or Commercial Lines underwriting experience preferred; training will be provided for candidates new to medical professional liability
• Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and professional designation
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking abilities
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
• Familiarity with business information technology
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout New England on occasion
