Medical Mutual Insurance Company of Maine, a Portland-based medical professional liability insurance company, seeks a Healthcare Risk Manager to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a healthcare professional with experience in risk management or patient safety to provide direct service to our insured hospitals and physicians.

As a Risk Manager, you will build strong client relationships and deliver value through telephone consultations, educational programs, and on-site patient safety assessments. This hybrid position is based in Portland, ME, and involves frequent travel throughout Northern New England, with occasional overnight travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive risk management and patient safety consultation services.
  • Conduct on-site risk assessments and safety evaluations at client healthcare facilities.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs tailored to the needs of hospitals and physicians.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and claims teams to provide a comprehensive service approach.
  • Build trusted relationships with insureds and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum five years of healthcare risk management or patient safety experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Education and Certifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree, clinical background, or experience with medical professional liability is a plus.
  • Preferred certifications include: CPHRM, CPHQ, CPPS.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time; Monday - Friday
