Medical Mutual Insurance Company of Maine, a Portland-based medical professional liability insurance company, seeks a Healthcare Risk Manager to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a healthcare professional with experience in risk management or patient safety to provide direct service to our insured hospitals and physicians.
As a Risk Manager, you will build strong client relationships and deliver value through telephone consultations, educational programs, and on-site patient safety assessments. This hybrid position is based in Portland, ME, and involves frequent travel throughout Northern New England, with occasional overnight travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive risk management and patient safety consultation services.
- Conduct on-site risk assessments and safety evaluations at client healthcare facilities.
- Develop and deliver educational programs tailored to the needs of hospitals and physicians.
- Collaborate with underwriting and claims teams to provide a comprehensive service approach.
- Build trusted relationships with insureds and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum five years of healthcare risk management or patient safety experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Education and Certifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree, clinical background, or experience with medical professional liability is a plus.
- Preferred certifications include: CPHRM, CPHQ, CPPS.

Work Schedule:
- Full-time; Monday - Friday
