Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our financial team. In this pivotal role, you will support the overall accounting operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and assist in the preparation of accurate financial reports. Your expertise will help drive financial integrity and uphold the highest standards of accounting excellence. We are looking for a candidate with at least 5 years of experience in accounting or insurance. We are willing to train the right candidate who brings strong accounting and general ledger fundamentals, curiosity, and a desire to grow. Oversee daily department needs and provide back-up/support to the Controller. In the Controller’s absence, this individual is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the accounting department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the general ledger accounting processes, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
  • Support balance sheet reconciliation efforts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and compliance with internal controls.
  • Manage the budgeting processes and variance analysis to aid strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
  • Manage monthly fixed asset reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, or an associate’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in accounting, insurance, or other closely related combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Accounting Software.
