The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issue new guidelines on sexually transmitted infections.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issued updated guidelines around sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The revised guidelines come from a large panel of experts and include critical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention recommendations. The guidelines include significant updates to medication recommendations and other treatments for many infections.
A practice alert in MDedge advised that family physicians be familiar with these guidelines as they are considered to be the standard of care for preventing and treating STIs.
You can find the CDC's full guidelines in the Sexually Transmitted Infections Treatment Guidelines, 2021.
